Messages from the field
The Caregivers singing a song to encourage each other.
Thank you for all your heartfelt messages and videos from all around the world!
We have received so much love and support for the children and staff at ICC.
It has been over 40 days since the first lockdown began at Changsha Care Centre.
After receiving so much support and encouragement, the young adults and caregivers responded with messages of their own:
‘It’s a joy to know that our children at Enquan Yuan are blessed with good health. We hope that the outbreak will end soon, and when spring arrives, the children will be able to go out and play!’
–From the caregivers at Enquan Yuan (Group Homes for children with moderate to severe disabilities)
Senyu Jia Community Group Homes
‘We are all staying well during this virus outbreak, thank you for everyone’s concern!’
–Senyu Jia Community Group Home
‘Thank you to all our friends, for your continuous love and support for ICC!’
Update on ICC Community Group Homes
–by ICC International Volunteer, Matt Pitt
Since going into lockdown on the 2nd of February the caregivers at the community group homes have been helping the young people and adults grow their independent skills and continue their education.
Special education classes have been taking place online for those that attend the special education school, and the carers have been helping the young people with their homework. Therapy and exercise have continued in the home.
While the young people and adults are learning new skills and finding ways to be entertained at the group homes, we hope they will be able to go back to school and the adults return to training at the ICC Vocational Training Centre.
Feel free to leave a message of support to the young people and adults at the community group homes, we will translate these into Chinese and send them back out.
