THE CORONAVIRUS SITUATION AT ICC PROJECTS: AN UPDATE
While Covid-19 continues to present ongoing challenges for our staff and young people in China, we are eager to share with you the good news that has recently come from Hengyang.
More staff have been able to return to work today and our staffing levels are getting closer to normal. Many caregivers came down with Covid last week, but most have recovered well and are eager to resume their duties after testing negative. While some children have shown symptoms, Kyla Alexander, our China Operations Director, confirms that they have been very mild and most of the children are fully recovered. No significant illnesses to report. And more good news: Kyla reports that one of our cooks who was out with Covid is back at work. She says “We have two cooks! All is well when there are two cooks!”
Things were pretty stretched earlier this week, with reduced caregiving staff and Kyla and Alison handling food deliveries and rubbish collection dressed as dinosaurs and giraffes. But spirits have remained high and everyone has pitched in.
The latest news from Changsha is that our children in Enquan Yuan are Covid-free and coping well with the lockdown.
Please continue to pray for the staff at the Rainbow office in Changsha who came down with the virus, and for the workers in Hengyang who are still out. May they all recover soon and feel healthy at Christmas.
There are still many challenges ahead, but the news is encouraging.
