Sending Our Message of Love and Support
“All the centres are on lockdown in Changsha. This means no one in the community homes can go in or out. What has been amazing is the dedication of the local Chinese staff. There are 15 staff with one manager at Enquan Yuan, which houses three group homes of children with moderate to severe disabilities. The staff have been living there 24/7 to care for the children at a personal sacrifice to their own families. At the community homes, staff are also living with the adults and children, keeping them active and entertained. Yesterday everyone wrote encouraging messages and sent photos to each other… it was great!”
– Matt Pitt, ICC International Volunteer
Since the coronavirus outbreak began, the ICC care centres have been under lockdown.
Our children and staff have been sending messages and photos to encourage each other during the outbreak.
From across the world, our national offices are sending out video messages to our dedicated staff and volunteers on the frontlines.
“This is a challenging time without precedent. Within our projects we are taking each day as it comes, and responding to the situation with flexibility and unity. Our priority and the priorities of our local team is the protection of the vulnerable children in our care. We are grateful for the international community that stands with us at this time to love and support Chinese people in this fight.”
– Kyla Alexander, ICC China Operations Director
