Cross Care Team #3 Report — Feiyang’s family

Our Cross Care Team #3 recently met a new family in need of our support.
Originally from Shaoyang in Hunan Province, Feiyang is a 14-year-old boy who lives with his parents in Changsha. Both Feiyang and his mother have dwarfism, a genetic medical condition that causes people to have restricted growth. Feiyang has constant pain in both of his legs which has made it difficult for him to walk, and his physical health is poor as a result. Feiyang has had his first surgery already, he will require to have a few more operations to help his condition improve.
The family moved to Changsha to seek medical treatment for Feiyang. Feiyang’s father works as a cleaner and earns a meagre income while his mother sometimes begs on the street. The family rents a small studio room near the hospital where Feiyang attends his medical appointments. Despite their difficult circumstances, his parents have not given up hope and are prepared to do everything they can to help their son to have a better quality of life.
Cross Care team went to visit Feiyang while he was at home. They spent some time chatting with Feiyang, and realised what he was most worried about was his schoolwork! He was particularly concerned about his upcoming high school entrance exams. So our staff offered to arrange a tutor to assist him with his schoolwork over the summer break.

Cross Care team #3 will be regularly visiting the family to assess their situation. We are grateful for partners like you, helping us to give hope to Feiyang and many families raising children with disabilities in China.
