The situation continues to improve at our care centres in Hunan province.

In Hengyang ICC now has a full contingent of staff, as caregivers recover from Covid and test negative for the virus. The individual group homes, which had effectively been isolated to keep the children safe from exposure, are now open so they can go outside.

In Changsha, our centre for adults, the Forest, is no longer locked down. Staff and young people who had been showing symptoms are now all in recovery. Over in Enquan Yuan, where our children live, regular staff rotations are resuming.

It’s been a trying time, but the perseverance and dedication of our teams has been remarkable. Despite the obstacles, everyone in Hengyang still had a chance to share some Christmas spirit!

The families we serve are mostly focused on avoiding exposure, so visits to our service centre have been curtailed. Many of our Family Partners programme staff came down with the virus, and they are recovering at home.
