CHILD SPONSORSHIP | Tanli
Recently, Tanli celebrated her 24th birthday.
In the last 21 years, we have had the privilege of watching her grow into the beautiful young lady that she is today.
Tanli has cerebral palsy and everyday tasks such as walking, talking and getting dressed are challenging for her. However, Tanli has never allowed her diagnosis to get in the way of her enjoying life and living it to the fullest. This is evident when you meet her. Tanli is full of joy and has a beautiful smile, even when doing housework or helping her younger sisters at home.
Growing up in ICC, Tanli has received therapy and conductive education before attending a regular local school in Changsha. This has provided the necessary support she needed. Tanli now lives in the Senyu community-based group home with her sisters, a place that’s always full of warmth, fun and laughter! She loves the atmosphere in the home and the way the younger girls play together.
Tanli welcomed Hehe to their Senyu Home in Changsha.
Tanli works at a sheltered workshop where she makes clothing labels and packs clothes. She gets herself up for work every Monday to Friday and commutes to her workplace, which takes one and a half hours. The trip involves getting three different buses as well as a walk. The bus drivers now recognise her and will wait for her if they see her walking towards the bus stop. She always makes sure that she gets to work regardless of the weather.
Tanli’s first day at work in 2017.
Tanli enjoys going to work. With the small income she makes, she is able to purchase her own clothes and buy things that she likes.
Tanli is well-loved by the young people at home. She can work independently and enjoy living with her sisters as a family. We are grateful to see her develop into the person she is now. Thank you for taking part in bringing love, hope and opportunity to the young people at ICC!
