Volunteer with ICC
Your skills can make a difference in the lives of abandoned and disabled children
The work of International China Concern is only possible because of the dedication and commitment of volunteers. People from all parts of the world have chosen to leave their homes to live and work with us in China, lending their skills and expertise to provide care for China's abandoned and disabled.
Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, educators, pastoral care workers, social workers, doctors, project managers, accountants and administrators. These roles are crucial to carrying out our mission each day.
Some volunteer roles that are immediately availalble
Our project locations need Physical Therapists to provide therapy, train local staff and directly impact lives.
We are looking for people with a heart for Pastoral Care to live and work in one of our projects, leading and developing team life and unity among our volunteers.
Your Love, For Life in Action
Long-term volunteers are truly the lifeblood of ICC. If you really have a heart for China’s abandoned and disabled, consider joining our team to live and work in China.
Volunteers are self-supported through their own fundraising efforts. We ask that volunteers commit to six months at a minimum, but prefer at least a two-year commitment, to give you the opportunity to grasp language and culture and to make an impact.
ICC is a Christ centered movement of people around the world. Each person carries the heart of ICC, its culture and values as we seek to realize opportunities to transform China’s abandoned and disabled. We will:
- Advocate for China’s abandoned and disabled
- Empower children, staff and partners
- Develop innovative projects and initiatives
- Care for people and manage resources well
- Provide life changing opportunities for service
- Transform through small family environments
What It Takes To Serve in China
A long-term commitment requires extensive language study—often much of the first year is spent getting the language under your belt so you can interact with our children and our 200+ Mandarin-speaking staff. Not surprisingly, we prefer at least a two-year commitment to give you the opportunity to grasp language and culture. But we will consider volunteers that can only commit for a minimum of six months.
The Application ProcessAll applicants must complete our general application form and supply supportive references, interview with us and agree to adhere to our guidelines and policies. Depending on the length of proposed service, applicants may also be required to undertake a more intensive process of formal health checks, cultural awareness training and personality profiling.
