International China Concern's vision, mission, objectives and values guide the work of every volunteer and staff member
Vision & Mission
International China Concern (ICC) is a Christian development organisation that changes lives by bringing love, hope and opportunity to China’s abandoned and disabled.
Founded in 1993, International China Concern exists to help the disadvantaged live life to the full. We believe every child is precious and has the right to be loved, to have hope for the future and the opportunity to realise their dreams.
For almost 25 years, International China Concern has partnered with the Chinese government to develop social welfare for China’s neediest children—the abandoned and disabled. Our reputation and relationships in China place us in an excellent position to not only provide services and homes for life, but also empower and train Chinese nationals to see lives saved, families supported, communities transformed and attitudes changed.
Chinese nationals predominantly manage our projects in China with support from dedicated international volunteers, both in China and abroad. Eight offices worldwide raise money and awareness, provide resources as well as recruit sponsors and volunteers with a passion to serve in China.
ICC is a Christ-centered movement of people around the world. Each person carries the heart of ICC, its culture and values as we seek to realize opportunities to transform China’s abandoned and disabled. We will:
- Advocate for China’s abandoned and disabled
- Empower children, staff and partners
- Develop innovative projects and initiatives
- Care for people and manage resources well
- Provide life changing opportunities for service
- Transform through small family environments
Intimacy with God
Our relationship with God is central to the work that we do. We trust in God’s promises and provision, and seek to live in an intimate and growing relationship with him that is expressed through devotion, worship and prayer.
Community With Each Other
We are committed to enjoying healthy, committed relationships within the teams in which we work. We recognize that each team is made up of individuals that are unique, yet who strive to create an atmosphere of unity and servanthood.
Relationship With Others
Our desire to share God’s love with others and the opportunity for them to know him personally strongly motivates us to build committed, caring relationships with those that are part of our community; the children, our staff and our neighbours. As a Christian organization, we will take every spirit-led opportunity to share with those who do not yet know Jesus.
We are committed to creating environments in which China’s abandoned and disabled children receive care that fosters the development of the whole person – mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. We strongly believe that it is the development of the individual as a whole that enables each person to achieve their God-given potential.
Sanctity of Life
We believe in the sanctity of human life regardless of disability from the time of conception until the time of natural death. We believe that each life is created and valued by God and deserves an opportunity to experience God’s love and salvation. Consequently, we will proactively demonstrate the compassion and mercy of Christ in all we do.
